Master Plan 2025
Mitre 10 Park is excited to be able to share its 2025 Master Plan.
This plan is all about shaping a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable future for our community. With a strong focus on innovation, environmental responsibilities, and enhancing the visitor experience, the 2025 Master Plan outlines a bold vision for the park’s development. From upgraded facilities and green spaces to expanded opportunities for sport, recreation, and events, this next chapter is designed to inspire and support the growing needs of Hawke’s Bay for years to come.
Athletics Track Resurfacing
Mitre 10 Park is working with Hastings Athletics Club and Hawke’s Bay Gisborne Athletics to raise the required funds for a vital resurfacing project to replace the William Nelson Athletics Precinct all-weather athletics track, originally constructed in 2007.
As the only synthetic track on the East Coast of the North Island, it serves over 78,000 users annually across schools, clubs, community events, and informal fitness activities. The resurfacing - currently costed at $835,000 - will include enhancements such as upgraded pole vault facilities, accessibility improvements for para-athletes, and new line markings for junior events.
This upgrade ensures the safety, quality, and continued regional and national relevance of the facility, supporting participation from grassroots through to elite competition and will maintain Mitre 10 Park’s ability to host top-level athletics events such as the annual Potts Classic and the New Zealand Track and Field Championships.
