Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Adopt a Metre campaign?

Adopt a Metre is your chance to support the resurfacing of the William Nelson Athletics Precinct by donating toward one of 400 metres of new track. Each donation helps us reach the finish line and includes a personalised plaque recognising your support.

How do I take part?

Simply choose your preferred metre online or choose one of our throwing or jumping zones, fill in the form to provide the wording for your plaques and complete your payment online. You’ll then receive an email confirmation and receipt.

I didn’t get a confirmation email — what should I do??

Please check your junk or spam folder, as confirmation emails may sometimes be filtered there. To avoid this, add contact@mitre10park.co.nz to your trusted senders list. If you still don’t receive an email within 10 minutes, contact us at contact@mitre10.co.nz and we’ll verify your donation.

Can I choose what goes on my plaque?

Yes! You can include a short name, message, or dedication - such as your family name, business, club, or a loved one’s name. All plaque text is subject to approval by the Mitre 10 Park team to ensure it’s appropriate for public display and consistent with our community values. We’ll contact you if any changes need to be made.

How will I know which metre I’ve purchased?

Once your donation is confirmed, your chosen metre will be marked as our of stock on the fundraising site. You’ll also receive an email confirming your metre number and plaque details.

Can I buy more than one metre?

Absolutely - many families, clubs, and businesses are purchasing multiple metres together. Each metre will have its own plaque and acknowledgement.

Where will the plaques be displayed?

Plaques will be installed along the track edge or at the specific jumping and throwing zones, creating a permanent visual record of the community’s collective effort to deliver this project. We will also be recognising every donor on our website as metres are purchased.

When will the new track be completed?

The resurfacing and installation of plaques are scheduled for completion before the 2026/27 summer season.
